For patients who do not have insurance coverage for weight loss surgery, a bariatric exclusion in their policy, or who do not wish to go through insurance to supplement their surgery cost or adhere to certain insurance mandated waiting periods or other requirements, Advanced Bariatric & Surgical Specialists also offers self-funded, or self-pay bariatric surgery options. Our team has worked to make our weight loss surgery pricing transparent and as inclusive as possible.

  •  ABSS Pre-Op Bag (vitamins ($12), protein shakes, coupons, surgery & discharge instructions)
  • Hospital & Anesthesiologist’s fee
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • 1-2 overnight stay
  • 90-Day Global period of post-op visits
  • Pre-op lab draw & Chest X-Ray (lab & radiology professional reading fees NOT included) 


Terms & Conditions:


  • Payment is due in full 2 weeks prior to scheduled surgery date. (ACH must be paid 3 weeks prior due to processing time.)
  • BMI cannot be greater than 60 (≤60)
  • BMI cannot be less than 30 (≥30)
  • Payment options: Cash, cashier’s check, debit/credit cards
  • Credit card transactions $500 or more will have a 4% fee
  • Dr. Chang’s office does NOT accept money orders, personal checks, Care Credit or United Credit
  • Dr. Chang’s office will disburse the funds as needed to DeTar and anesthesia before the surgery date

  • Professional fees (radiology, pathology, EKG)
  • Reading fees (radiology, labs/X-Rays/UGI)
  • Medical Clearances
  • Additional surgeries/procedures
